Black Friday Deals to help you with your TTRPG shopping this year!
Welcome to this Thanksgiving Edition of Critical Hit News! It’s that time of year again! Publishers and creators are going crazy and offering Black Friday deals on your favorite games. It’s worth a look at least. I’ve compiled as many of the deals as I could find onto a single email. I’m sure you’re mostly shopping for friends, but there’s a number of options here. None of these are commission links, so go wild!
Syrinscape, which allows players to create soundscapes fitting their campaigns, is offering 20% off a full year of the “SuperSyrin” subscription until Monday, Dec. 2.
Free League Publishing, the people behind The One Ring™, BLADE RUNNER The Roleplaying Game, ALIEN The Roleplaying Game, Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying, Tales from the Loop RPG, Symbaroum, Twilight: 2000, and Mutant: Year Zero, is offering 50% off for many of the books in its collection.
Son of Oak Studios, best known for cyberpunk books like the Otherscape series, is offering a month-long deal on several of its books.
Itch.io, which is the publisher and host for several indie projects, intends to host its Autumn sale starting Wednesday, with a number of games discounted based on you, the players’ interest.
Shard Tabletop, one of the lesser-known VTTs, offers a storewide sale for its product line, including discounted monthly subscriptions and a variety of Kobold Press products.
Kobold Press also has massive sales on its products, primarily its older texts like Tome of Beasts and Tome of Heroes.
If you’re looking for indie TTRPGs, Rowan Zeoli has a really good piece on where to find them over at Polygon for you to consider.
Magpie Games, the people behind ROOT and AVATAR THE RPG is offering free shipping, free dice and a random Quickstart if you spend more than $100. It’s an extension of their month-long November sale.
Goodman Games is offering a sale on a bunch of their products!
News You May Have Missed!
The 5e conversion of the Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game is now on DnDBeyond. It offers six “callings” (classes), 6 “cultures” aka species/races, a mixture of virtues/feats and details on how to run a campaign in the various regions. It’s likely not a campaign book designed to be mixed with other settings or campaigns, but it may offer a quality source for anyone who is feeling inclined toward telling a better story than Rings of Power at their table.
Taldorei Reborn, Critical Role’s guide to its main world, is now available on Alchemy RPG. The book contains a number of subclasses, backgrounds, lore about the world involving Vox Machina and so much more. I have it on D&D Beyond and it’s a solid addition.
Things have continued past Elon Musk’s remarks about D&D last week, with Gary Gygax’s daughter challenging allegations that her father was racist but did believe that he held to “sexist” views that were of his time.
With that, we wrap up for the week and hope that you and your family have a lovely Thanksgiving and get to play lots of games, whether board games or TTRPGs.
