Nov. 5: Rolling to Vote
A TTRPG Distraction
Happy Election Day to Americans! I’m sure you’re all thinking and stressing about this important decision (regardless of who you’re voting for), so we’ll keep this short.
I’m spending the evening in a hotel in DC watching the polls come in slowly (An old habit from my time at a political news outlet.) I know these times may be stressful, so I hope that 1. you found time to vote and 2. You’re able to find time to relax and avoid stressing yourself out over the results. We’ll know what will happen soon enough.
Have an Epic the Musical/Baldur’s Gate 3 animatic for your troubles.
News You May Have Missed….
Coyote and Crow, a Native American-themed sci-fi TTRPG, has adjusted its prices so that the core rulebook is now available as “Pay-What-You-Want” on DrivethruRPG. I’ll openly state I’m not familiar with this game, but this decision should make trying the game a lot easier for new players.
The Magnus Archives, a Cipher-based TTRPG based on a popular audio drama podcast, is now available on DrivethruRPG as a PDF for anyone who didn’t back it. I’ve had friends telling me to listen to this podcast for years and I’ve not been able to make time to do so. I’ll admit that a TTRPG on the subject has my curiosity.

Why are there no superhero actual-plays? Polygon contributor and Actual Play researcher Em Friedman offers their two cents on the shortage of content and how it exists in the current ecosystem of TTRPGs.
According to Rascal's Thomas Manuel, the Cold War continued to influence TTRPGs even after the Berlin Wall fell. He wrote up a fairly in-depth look at the history of the influence and factors playing out.
